Don Benito becomes the capital of Trasterminancy

From the Department of Tourism and Youth and the Department of Culture, the programming for the second edition of the trasterminancia activity is presented, que este año se denomina “Don Benito, capital de la Trasterminancia”.

Deseamos presentaros la programación para la II edición de la actividad TRASTERMINANCIA, which this year we have titled:

DON BENITO, CAPITAL DE LA TRASTERMINANCIA‼️ 11 al 13 November 2022

🐑 V iernes 11, The presentation will take place with a talk-colloquium at 7 p.m.. on the third floor of the House of Culture, speakers:

• Julián Mora Aliseda, Professor of geography and territorial planning (Unex), as moderator.
• Limia Road, of the Joaquín Ortíz Merino Livestock, as coordinator.
• Daniel Píriz Delgado, Doctor in Terrestrial Ecology from the University of Extremadura.
• Alejandro Pena, Director of the Rural Development and Sustainability Area of ​​the Badajoz Provincial Council.
• Eduardo Blanco Morcillo, Entrepreneur in the ICT sector and specialized in Agro projectors.

🏅🏆‼️En este mismo acto se hará entrega de un premio al Centro de Formación del Medio Rural de Don Benito como “reconocimiento por su trabajo en la recuperación de la raza merina, motor clave de la trashumancia”‼️🏆🏅

🐑 Saturday 12, We go out into the countryside to follow the sheep on their journey in search of grass with a 14km route, where also, We are going to offer several surprises 🎁 to the walker who comes to participate in this wonderful day:

  • 09:00h. Departure by bus from the Plaza de España de Don Benito. Transfer to Cordel de Sevilla, starting point of the route.
    10:00h. Brief presentation of the day, to later enjoy a breakfast of Migas del Pastor.
  • 11:00h. Beginning of the route on foot accompanying the passage of the flock of merino sheep @merinospain for 3 hours. approximately, until its completion near the Hermitage of Antigua, in Havana.
  • 15:30h. Extremaduran stew tasting, coffee and typical sweets from Don Benito.
  • 17:00h. Pick up by bus and transfer to Plaza de España de Don Benito.

🐑 Domingo 13, we go out to the field again, to complete this activity. On this day the path is only 8 km.

  • 14:30h. Departure by bus from the Plaza de España de Don Benito. Transfer to the point where the sheep arrived on the day 12, close to the Hermitage of La Antigua, in Havana.
  • 15:00h. Beginning of the route on foot accompanying the passage of the herd of merino sheep @merinospain for 2 hours. approximately, until its completion at the Old Bridge of Quintana.
  • 17:30h. Pick up by bus and transfer to Plaza de España de Don Benito.
