Where does your interest in livestock come from??

I was born in a family that had nothing to do with livestock., Although I have always wanted to be linked to livestock. When I had the opportunity to visit friends of my parents who were ranchers, eso era para mí mis mejores vacaciones.

La presidenta de la Asociación de Ganadería Mundial Sostenible, Maria del Camino Limia, publicaba hace unos días un video en sus redes sociales en el que arremetía duramente contra las declaraciones del ministro Garzón. De profesión abogada, esta joven ganadera de Zamora es propietaria de una explotación familiar que cuenta con 6.000 cabezas puras de ovejas de raza merina, incluso ha recuperado la trashumancia como modelo productivo. Se ha hecho viral y ha puesto voz al descontento del sector ganadero en toda España.

Cuestión de prioridades entrevista a María del Camino tras hacer público un video donde llamaba literalmente “ignorant” al ministro Garzón por desconocer a sus productores y al sistema de producción. Dice que en España no existe ese tipo de producción ganadera y refiere que “entre las 10 granjas más grandes del mundo no hay ninguna española”, y concluye: “Este debate lo sufre la Marca España”.

Limia refería en sus redes que los ganaderos españoles son capaces de poner encima de las mesas de todo el mundo la carne con mayor garantía sanitaria y de calidad mundial; sobre si hay diferencia de calidad entre la carne de extensivo e intensivo responde durante la entrevista que hay una diferencia en términos de producción y de calidad aunque alega que el debate no se debería centrar en eso: “Eso no quiere decir que las otras carnes sean malas”,”el modelo de extensivo en Castilla y León y en Extremadura es una de las mejores del mundo”.

El mundo rural acoge el 20% de la población mundial y ocupa un 80% del territorio, siendo su “dedicación”, hasta hace bien poco, exclusivamente agrícola y ganadera. En España el porcentaje aumenta, siendo el 24% de la población la que vive en algo más del 80% del territorio, dedicándose fundamentalmente a la actividad agraria y con un nivel de rentas que apenas alcanza el 50% de la media europea. En términos reales, esto implica que casi cinco millones de mujeres viven en este ámbito, what represents the 15% de la población española.

FIJADORAS DE POBLACIÓN

Visibilizar la labor de las mujeres en el medio rural, como fijadoras de población es vital, y para ello es necesario que su presencia se extienda a los ámbitos económicos, políticos y sociales de las mujeres que hoy por hoy emprenden y son motor de cambio en el mundo rural. Según Camino Limia Santiago, ganadera de la raza autóctona merina “MERINOSPAIN” y presidenta de la Asociación Mundial de Ganadería Sostenible, “las mujeres rurales, nuestras madres, nuestras abuelas han sido el último eslabón de una sociedad vinculada al campo, un eslabón que ha mantenido la seguridad alimentaria que, gracias a su esfuerzo y dedicación, nos han permitido formarnos y nos han dado una educación que ellas mismas no pudieron recibir, han forjado a fuego los valores de nuestra cultura asociada a nuestros maravillosos territorios naturales. Dos generaciones atrás todas hemos sido rurales, hemos aprendido de nuestras madres y abuelas, en definitiva, gracias a ellas, a su esfuerzo hoy tenemos una sociedad abierta y plural, donde la mujer y el hombre viven con plena igualdad. Pero donde paradójicamente nuestros más jóvenes han olvidado sus propias raíces y sufrimos una total desconexión o brecha rural entre el campo y la ciudad, que nos lleva por amargos derroteros a los hombres y mujeres que seguimos viviendo y apostando en los núcleos rurales”.

Esta ganadera, que ha sido muy crítica con las últimas declaraciones del ministro Garzón, nos dice precisamente que este año 2022 se ha presentado con turbulencias, el sector cárnico ganadero ha sido cruelmente atacado desde las instituciones, como los ataques sufridos desde el propio ministerio de consumo, poniendo en jaque nuestras carnes y nuestra ganadería ante los medios internacionales y los consumidores de todo el mundo. Hoy la sociedad no es aún consciente del acoso y derribo que injustamente y por parte de quienes nos deben defender, sufren las más de 100.000 familias que generan actividades ganaderas y cuidan de nuestros bosques. Y añade que “quisiera pensar que este 2022 va a ser el año de las estrategias nacionales de ganadería, pero no las de los grupos ecologistas a los que parece ser que algunos ministerios dan prioridad, sino de las estrategias ganaderas con criterio y profesionalidad, las que realmente marquen unas líneas de acción para mejorar la productividad y la rentabilidad de forma sostenible de nuestros ganaderos”.

DESARROLLO SOSTENIBLE

La sociedad tiene una deuda con las mujeres rurales, con su actividad y con el esfuerzo adicional que realizan para superar las dificultades de conciliación, empleabilidad, acceso a los servicios y a los recursos y movilidad, entre otras carencias que se agravan especialmente en el medio rural. Besides, han jugado y juegan un papel clave a la hora de afrontar el reto que suponen los cambios sociales, ambientales y económicos que vivimos, en definitiva, el reto de la sostenibilidad.

Kaelia Cotera López, Ganadería Cambureru.

Kaelia Cotera Lopez, joven ganadera de Cabrales, donde regenta con su familia La Ganadería Cambureru dedicada al ganado caprino, nos comenta que “el asentamiento de más mujeres en más zonas rurales haría crecer el número de población y la creación de familias, y esto llevaría a emprender en el medio rural y así generar ingresos en estas zonas. Todavía queda mucho que trabajar en el medio rural, porque para la sociedad el papel de ganadero sigue siendo masculino. Poco a poco son más las mujeres que están apostando por tener sus propias explotaciones. Mujeres jóvenes que se quedan con la exploración familiar para trabajar exclusivamente de ello. Para esta ganadera asturiana es indispensable la sostenibilidad para el medioambiente y para garantizar alimentos de calidad a la sociedad. Es parte de la biodiversidad de nuestro país y como tal debería tener un buen reconocimiento”

En todo esto -añade- “la mujer tiene un papel importante de liderazgo, no de ahora, si no de siempre. Vengo de una familia dónde mis abuelas eran pastoras, ordeñaban, hacían queso, cuidaban el ganado, a los hijos, a las personas mayores…. Para mí eran súper heroínas. Ellas eran las que vendían el producto en los mercados. Siempre estuvieron en un segundo plano, pero eso ya ha cambiado, se está dando el valor acorde al papel que representa

La mujer aporta estabilidad, asentamiento, emprendimiento, relevo. La visibilidad y el valor ha cambiado, ahora ya no está a la sombra de… ahora la mujer decide, es compañera de trabajo por igual. Es un equipo.

La falta de valoración de la figura de la mujer hizo que se marcharán en busca de otros trabajos a las ciudades, por eso el número de mujeres es menor. Ahora mismo esa mentalidad va cambiando y se le está dando el reconocimiento que se merece.

DINAMIZACIÓN

Para Marta García Martínez, ganadera de vacuno y propietaria de la Finca Val de Mazo, en Cantabria, y premio a la mujer rural 2021, “la mujer es una pieza clave en la dinamización socioeconómica del medio rural español, en la figura femenina esta la sabiduría popular, están los valores del sacrificio, esfuerzo, amor a la tierra y la protección de la familia. En Cantabria casi el 50% de la titularidad de las explotaciones agrarias es de titularidad femenina, pero en el campo vivimos familias, hombres, mujeres y niños. Unas granjas son familiares, no es justo que ahora se hable solo de mujeres, que parezca que solo las mujeres tenemos problemas o que solo nosotras somos fundamentales para mantener un medio rural vivo”.

La mujer rural es una víctima de la sociedad, nos apunta esta galardonada en 2021, hay un grave problema de desigualdad entre las mujeres del campo y las mujeres de ciudad.

“En muchos casos no tenemos cobertura móvil, por lo tanto, tampoco acceso a internet, no hay colegios para que estudien nuestros hijos, nos tenemos que poner malos de lunes a viernes y en un horario concreto, porque no tenemos asistencia sanitaria, no tenemos acceso a la cultura, ni al ocio, pagamos los mismos impuestos que las mujeres de la ciudad y no tenemos los mismos servicios”, afirma. “Para cualquier gestión te tienes que desplazar varios kilómetros, por carreteras completamente abandonadas a su suerte, por no hablar de las pésimas condiciones en las que se encuentran los caminos agrarios que nos llevan a nuestro puesto de trabajo”.

La ganadería además de ser sostenible tiene que ser rentable, no podemos olvidar que detrás de una ganadería hay una familia que trabaja 365 días al año para garantizar alimentos de gran calidad a la sociedad para que se puedan alimentar, nos expresa esta ganadera cántabra. Quien además se siente orgullosa del trabajo que realiza ” la sociedad tiene que comer, hay muchas personas que no tienen acceso a un plato de comida en el mundo, y yo sigo trabajando cada día para poner en el mercado alimentos para que los seres humanos puedan alimentarse”.

MINORÍA

Lucia Maesso Corral, ganadera del cerdo ibérico en Extremadura y Presidenta de la Asociación Española del Cerdo Ibérico (AECERIBER), es de la opinión que “la presencia de la mujer ganadera en el sector agrario continúa siendo minoritaria. A pesar de ello, la mujer lucha permanentemente para demostrar su valía y ha conseguido un reconocimiento cada vez mayor de su capacidad profesional y el respeto del resto de profesionales del sector”. Y nos añade que” el papel que históricamente ha desempeñado la mujer en la vida rural ha sido fundamental para garantizar que no se produjera el abandono del medio rural, compatibilizando el trabajo en las explotaciones con las responsabilidades familiares. En la actualidad, la mujer rural sigue mayoritariamente desempeñando ese doble papel, que le conduce a un sobreesfuerzo físico e incluso psicológico”.

Esta ganadera al igual que el resto de sus compañeras son de la opinión de que “la ganadería sostenible es lo más apropiado, pero ante todo tiene que ser rentable. Por ello, es imprescindible saber cuál es el concepto que tiene el consumidor de estas producciones ganaderas y sus productos y, por supuesto, si está dispuesto a pagar más por ellos”.
